Nigerian Bride Struck In Eye During Wedding Reception, Hospitalised

A Nigerian bride’s wedding reception turned into a near tragedy last weekend in Dantamashe town, Ungogo LGA of Kano State, after vigilantes allegedly struck her with a missile in the eye.
According to eyewitnesses, the vigilante members were invited to put an end to the local party, also known as the DJ, that the bride, bride named Khadija Abdullahi organized.

This party later sparked controversy, and one of the bride’s eyes was struck by a stone that was thrown at it, according to DailyTrust.

They claimed that community elders had earlier completely outlawed such gatherings. It was gathered that several neighbors of the bride’s family alerted the vigilantes of the party.

Recounting what transpired, the bride said, “We were busy with our party when I saw the vigilantes—about 10 of them coming. They started beating people, saying that the party would not hold. From there, I didn’t know what happened, I just found myself on a hospital bed with a wounded eye”.

However, the vigilante organization in the LGA said that none of its members touched anyone there and that the conflict was between the locals and the group that had outlawed the DJ party.

The State Police Command said it has arrested two people in connection with the incident and that they would be charged to court after the investigation.
