Tinubu Sends New Message To Obi, Atiku’s Supporters: I Will Heal Your Hurt

President-Elect Bola Tinubu on Wednesday sent out a message to disappointed supporters of Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar saying his heart is opened to them and will heal their hurt arising from his victory in the election.

Speaking after he was presented his certificate of return as president-elect by INEC chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, Tinubu said that he was just a symbol to the important task of national renewal which he said would in due future bring forward a youth, a woman and a person from the minorities as president of Nigeria in due future.

GWG.ng reports that Tinubu who INEC declared as having won with 37% of the total votes last weekend in wooing supporters of his rival said:

“I know many did not vote for me and you are disappointed that your candidate is not where I stand now, I understand, you hurt, you are angry and disappointed, I send the embrace of one family member to another.

“This great project called Nigeria beckons to us all, it is bigger and more important than any partition or divide. To my supporters I ask you to continue to have faith in the mission that we have articulated.

“To those who didn’t support me, I ask that you not allow the disappointment of this moment to keep you from realising the historic national project we can make by walking together,” Tinubu said to supporters of Atiku and Obi who he said were hurt by his victory.

Noting that his election symbolised hope for youths, women and minorities, Tinubu said:

“If I can do this, you can even do better. You must do better. Our destiny as a people and as a nation depends on our ability to shed artificial restrictions of bias and prejudice so that we live fully up to our democratic creeds that no one is superior or entitled to greater rights than any other Nigerian.

“Very soon, this nation shall witness a young person standing here before you, holding this great symbol of democracy and national leadership. We shall see a woman standing before you holding this certificate as its owner. We shall experience someone from a tribe that many people have tried to dismiss.”
