Governor Godwin Obaseki has accused his immediate predecessor and one time benefactor, Senator-Elect Adams Oshiomhole of recruiting lions and tigers to foist anarchy in the state ahead of the forthcoming state House of Assembly elections in Edo State.

Obaseki spoke through his Special Adviser on Media Projects, Mr. Crusoe Osagie, who alleged a plot to use criminal gangs allegedly aligned to Oshiomhole to wreck havoc in the state during the Saturday, March 11, 2023 election.

GWG.ng reports that Obaseki came under pressure after Labour Party and the Oshiomhole led APC swept the presidential and National Assembly elections leaving the PDP led by the governor in the shadows.

Obaseki speaking through Osagie said:

“The information we have indicates that the meetings are being coordinated across different parts of the state and cash is being disbursed with the intention to intimidate voters with thugs. We are not surprised by this turn of events as it is part of Oshiomhole’s modus operandi.

“We are calling on the security agencies to closely monitor Oshiomhole and ensure that he does not carry out his devious plots against Edo voters.”

The Obaseki aide continued: “Edo people, we are sure, will resist Oshiomhole and his Lions and Tigers by being vigilant and protecting their votes on March 11, after casting their votes.

“Edo voters are wiser and have proven that they can rise against Oshiomhole and his thugs, as was done in 2020. We have rejected the antics of the Lions and Tigers and will do so again,” the Obaseki aide said in countering Senator-Elect Oshiomhole.
