Owie Begs Edo Voters Not To Sink PDP Because Of Obaseki

Senator Roland Owie has made a passionate appeal to members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Edo State to look beyond Governor Godwin Obaseki to the long-term fortunes of the party in making their choices in the weekend State House of Assembly election.

Senator Owie, a former Chief Whip of the Senate spoke against the background of the revolt by the party’s grassroots that led to the unprecedented trouncing of the PDP in the presidential and National Assembly elections penultimate Saturday.

GWG.ng reports that in an unprecedented defeat that the PDP was unable to win a single seat in the Senate and House of Representatives election in Edo State following the revolt of the mainstream of the party after the candidates’ list endorsed by Governor Obaseki won the recognition of the Supreme Court.

It was an unparalled defeat for the PDP which had until then dominated in the National Assembly elections in the state.

With the prospects of the party facing similar humiliation this weekend, Senator Owie, one of the party’s grandees in the state on Wednesday intervened asking party members to look beyond Governor Obaseki who he said would soon exit.

He said:

“Two weeks before the Supreme Court judgment, I issued a press release where I pleaded that after the judgment we should all  embrace peace for the sake of our PARTY THE PDP.

“We are witnesses now to what INGRATITUDE, GREED, DIVISIVENESS, AND  SELFISHNESS, have brought to PDP Edo State. I have seen it all.

“In 1982 after the UPN’s Governorship primaries, where I came second to Late Prof. Ambrose Alli, all appeals made to our group then, led by our late great leader, Dist. Senator Nosike Ikpo, to look at the UPN and not Prof. Alli, fell on deaf ears and UPN was wrecked in Bendel State then.

“Also the SLOGAN of “NO VACANCY IN GOVT HOUSE AND THE “DE-REGISTRATION OF PDP MEMBERS” in Edo, at a point brought PDP down. Brethren we should allow God to be THE JUDGE and let us save PDP in Edo State by  voting for all PDP Candidates to the House of Assembly next Saturday,

“Must we destroy PDP because we are unhappy with Gov. Obaseki? Gov. Obaseki has less than two years to exit office, and there is NO THIRD TERM. The EDOS HAVE A PARRABLE THAT SAYS “AIMUOHU- FISE-YE -ARO” That is ” ONE CAN NOT PIERCE HIS OR HER EYES WITH NAIL, BCS HE OR SHE IS ANNOYED OF A PERSON” If that happens, the person becomes blind while the person for whose sake the anger came up, is not affected.

“The Word of God says,” IF YOUR ENEMY IS HUNGRY, FEED HIM; IF HE IS THIRSTY, GIVE HIM A DRINK. YOU WILL MAKE HIM BURN WITH SHAME AND THE LORD WILL REWARD YOU” (Proverbs Chapter 25.v.21). Please let us jointly save our Party PDP,” Owie submitted in his plea to Edo voters not to sink the PDP because of Obaseki
