By Eze Dike
English giants Chelsea have confirmed the appointment of Nigerian Hassan Sulaiman as the new head coach of their U18 side.
Sulaiman has been part of the Academy set up at Chelsea since 2006, climbing through the coaching ranks and taking on a number of roles in the process. The Nigerian is a UEFA A License holder and has been saddled with responsibility of breeding young talents who will represent the Blues at professional level. His most recent position was as the U16 coach and he has now received promotion where he will take charge of the U18 side.
About his appointment, Sulaimain said: ‘I am delighted to take on this new role and this is an opportunity that I am really looking forward to. I want to thank the leadership team for having the confidence in me to continue the success of the Academy’.
GWG.ng reports that the appointment of the Nigerian coach, Sulaiman for the U18 team came after Chelsea manager Graham Potter gushed after his team achieved the first away win of the year at Leicester on Saturday afternoon following two unprecedented straight victories at Stamford Bridge under his watch.
Chelsea won 3-1 at King Power Stadium to return to west London with all three points, as former Leicester defender Ben Chilwell got himself on the scoresheet.
