Helicopters To Pay Landing Fees- Minister

Hadi Sirika, Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation, has declared that the federal government will collect landing fees from helicopters operating in Nigerian airspace.

Sirika made this announcement at the International Wing of the Port Harcourt International Airport as he introduced the most recent class of trained Helicopter Monitoring Officers in the government’s aviation service.

The minister, who was represented by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria’s (FAAN) Norris Anozie, Director of Human Resources, reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to enhancing revenue collection through helicopter landing fees.

Wherever helicopters land or take off in the nation they will be thoroughly monitored, a newly certified Helicopter Monitoring Officer informed Channels Television.

The Federal Government will entrust the Helicopter Monitoring Officers with the duty of collecting landing fees on its behalf under the new regime.

Meanwhile, The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced that runways 18R and 36L at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos will be closed for maintenance for an eight-week period. The agency made the notification on Monday, March 13, saying that as the taxi route B-18L will be utilized for all flight operations as regular domestic airline operations would not be impacted.
