Delta PDP Guber Candidate, Oborevwori Pulls Out Of Debate
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP governorship candidate in Delta State, Hon Sheriff Oborevwori has opted out of the Wednesday evening debate being organized for the main candidates in the election.
GWG.ng reports that besides Oborevwori who is the incumbent speaker of the State House of Assembly that the other main challengers are Senator Ovie Omo-Agege of the All Progressives Congress, APC and Deacon Ken Pela of the Labour Party.
In opting out of the debate in a letter dated March 15, 2023 to the organisers of the debate, Arise News Television Network, Dr Ifeanyi Osuoza cited among others scheduled activities which made it inconvenient for him to attend.
The PDP Campaign, however, promised that its candidate could be available on any other time convenient.
The availability of the other two, Pela and Omo-Agege is, however, expected.
Pela was the underdog in the battle between the PDP and the APC candidates until the sweeping victory of Peter Obi in the presidential election in Delta State.
Obi swept the polls in all three senatorial districts with some unheralded National Assembly candidates on the platform of Labour Party sweeping through to victory on his coattails.
The sweeping victory has catapulted Pela into a position of ascendancy with permutations putting him among the front leaders.
GWG.ng had reported him as saying that disgruntled members of the PDP and APC opposed to the emergence of Oborevwori and Omo-Agege as candidates of their parties were aligning with him towards ensuring that none of the two emerge as successor to Okowa.
The Labour Party in Delta State is, however, impeded with the lack of finances and other logistics.
With Oborevwori out of the debate for Delta governorship candidates, the stage will be left for Omo-Agege and Pela.
