Sanwo-Olu, Lagos Police Under Pressure Over MC Oluomo Anti-Igbo Threat Video

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and the police in the state were under pressure on Friday morning after a video of a leading All Progressives Congress, APC chieftain, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsaya popularly known as MC Oluomo openly making threats to voters not to come out on Election Day if they are not voting for Sanwo-Olu.
The threat video captured at a meeting ahead of the governorship election was especially foreboding for the Igbo as MC Oluomo directed his message towards them.
The threat video came after the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi swept the polls in the election of February 25 defeating the former governor of Lagos State in what had been considered as his fiefdom. With the prospect of the Labour Party governorship candidate repeating the feat, MC Oluomo in the threat video besides warning the Igbo also passed an ominous message to his men that they know what to do “if we are losing.”
Given past assurances from the police in Lagos to report such incidents with the popular refrain, ‘if you see something, say something,’ as popularised by the public relations officer, Ben Hundeyin, agitation for the arrest of MC Oluomo over the threat video was boiling over on twitter on Friday.
There were some who were also hinting at a visa ban for MC Oluomo given that most of his children are resident in the United States.
The call for the police and Governor Sanwo-Olu to act was being championed by the wife of the Lagos State governorship candidate, Dr Ifeyinwa Rhodes-Vivour who posted a clip of the MC Oluomo threat video:
