19 INEC Staff Abducted With BVAS In Imo Freed
19 INEC Ad-Hoc employees who were abducted in the early hours of the House of Assembly elections in Imo State on March 18 have been freed by police officers.
The 19 INEC Ad-Hoc staff members were kidnapped as they were traveling to seven separate voting places in Ugbelie ward 06 of Imo state’s Ideato South LGA.
The state’s electoral commission’s spokeswoman, Chinenye Chijioke-Osuji, claimed that the abducted employees were freed after making a distress call.
She claimed that electoral materials, including BVAS and sensitive materials, were carried off by the kidnappers.
