In the aftermath of the Lagos State governorship elections held on Saturday, March 12th, 2023, Nollywood actress Omowunmi Dada has come forward to speak out against the bullying and intimidation of voters that took place across several polling units in the state.

Ms. Dada, who is known for her roles in several Nollywood movies including “King of Boys”, took to her social media accounts to express her disappointment at the voter suppression tactics employed by some political actors in the state.

In a post shared on her Instagram page, she wrote, “DONE AND DUSTED. My polling unit in Lekki phase 1 was very safe. However, I’m just quite sad that cos of all the bullying and intimidation happening around Lagos, people didn’t come out to vote. How do we say we have chosen leaders when our lives are threatened cos of our choices!!”

The actress’ comments come as reports continue to emerge of incidents of violence and voter intimidation across several polling units in Lagos during the elections. Some voters were reportedly prevented from casting their ballots while others were threatened with violence if they voted for certain candidates.
