How Oborevwori Overcame Omo-Agege To Become Governor-Elect Of Delta

Hon Sheriff Oborevwori of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has been returned as governor-elect of Delta State by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC following the defeat of his closest challenger, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Oborevwori who is the outgoing presiding officer of the Delta State House of Assembly beat Omo-Agege who is the deputy presiding officer of the Senate by 360,234 votes to 240,229 votes according to the computations made at the end of the collation in Asaba. The Labour Party candidate, Ken Pela polled 47,415 votes.

The PDP won in 21 local government areas of the state while the APC won in Uvwie, Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu.

GWG.ng reports that the declaration of the result was trailed with protests by the agents of the APC and the Labour Party who alleged falsification of results, intimidation among other malpractises that were allegedly brought to bear by the PDP.

However, the declaration of the results were also trailed with counter allegations of violence with the returning officer alleging that INEC officials were held overnight on Sunday by proxies of Senator Omo-Agege and were only released on Monday morning.

Omo-Agege is yet to respond to the allegation and the declaration of Oborevwori as governor-elect of Delta State.
