PDP Celebrations Go Burst As Kaduna REC Returns APC In Governorship Poll
Celebrations in Kaduna heralding the victory of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP were abruptly disrupted late on Monday after the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC returning officer announced that the All Progressives Congress, APC candidate, Senator Uba Sani won the governorship election.
The declaration by the INEC returning officer was despite the strong protestation of the PDP agent who insisted that the PDP won the election based on the return on the INEC portal.
The Returning officer, however, insisted that the returns he made were undisputed and that the APC with 730,002 won the poll ahead of the PDP candidate, Isa Ashiru who he announced polled 719,196.
The Labour Party candidate, Jonathan Asake polled 58,283
GWG.ng reports that the declaration was repeatedly put off by the INEC officials and did reconvened at about 9.00 p.m.
The deferment was put to the outstanding results from Kudan Local Government Area.
The Returning officer for the election, Professor Lawal Jibrin also rebuffed the claim by the PDP agent that the cancelled results were about 68,000.
Before the declaration there were videos of youths celebrating what they presumed to be the victory of the PDP on the streets of Kaduna and on social media but which turned empty after the REC declared that the APC won the poll.
