“They Are Your Battle Scars” – Yul Edochie Tells Funke Akindele After She Deleted Campaign Posts
Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie, has sent words of encouragement to Funke Akindele after she deleted all political posts of her principal, Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran aka Jandor, from her Instagram page following their loss in the Lagos State gubernatorial race under the People’s Democratic Party(PDP).
Edochie congratulated Akindele on her political journey, stating that it was a bold step to take, especially running for the position of Deputy Governor of Lagos State.
He went ahead to encourage her and others not to be discouraged by their loss, stating that it was a rare privilege and a historical moment to have been picked among millions of Lagosians to be a Deputy Governorship candidate.
Edochie reminded Akindele that a warrior is always proud of their battle scars and that her campaign pictures were part of her battle scars, proof that she went to battle and came back alive.
He encouraged her to wear them proudly, stating that they deserved to remain on her page forever.
He advised Akindele and others not to be discouraged by those who were laughing at them for not winning, stating that cowards would always laugh at the brave ones.
He went ahead to state that those who laughed at them were consoling themselves for being cowards and that when they grew up, they would laugh at themselves for not having the courage to try what Akindele did.
Edochie urged Akindele not to give up, stating that there were no failures in life as long as she never gave up.
He reminded her that it was either she won or learned, and that the person who failed was that person who had not tried at all.
Edochie recounted his own experience of running for Governor of his state in 2017, stating that it was one of the best things he had done in his life and one of his proudest moments.
He stated that he learnt a lot and that his campaign pictures were still on his page, his battle scars which he wore proudly.
Edochie ended by stating that Akindele would sit in her office someday as Deputy Governor or Governor or even President and look at her first campaign pictures with tears of joy in her eyes.
He stated that she would be proud of her journey and that she should never give up.
