Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has taken to her Instagram page to announce that she is ready to relax and party after the elections.

The actress, who was the Rivers State deputy governorship candidate on the platform of the African Democratic Congress, endorsed and supported the candidate of the APC, Tonye Cole, shortly before the election.

However, the endorsement didn’t count for much as Cole was defeated by the candidate of the PDP, Siminialayi Fubara.

In her post, Dikeh wrote, “When Her Excellency, stepped out for a party. Campaigns is over. let me have my time and relax before the next stage”.

This statement has raised some eyebrows, as some have accused her of not taking the election seriously.

Tonto Dikeh’s decision to endorse Cole in the election was not a surprise to many, as the actress has been known to be a vocal supporter of the APC.

However, her endorsement did not go down well with some of her fans, who accused her of putting her personal interests ahead of the interests of the people of Rivers State.

In response to the criticism, Tonto Dikeh wrote on Instagram, “Having carefully listened to the advice of elders and political leaders in Rivers State on the need for the opposition to look inwards and present a unified, competent and generally acceptable candidate with the capacity to win the gubernatorial elections, and the need for the opposition to prevent splitting its votes amongst several candidates, today, we officially adopted Tonye Cole as the consensus and unifying candidate of the opposition.”
