Governor Chukwuma Soludo was on the spotlight on Saturday afternoon as his predecessor, Mr Peter Obi arrived the venue of his one year anniversary to steal the show with a nearly two minute standing ovation from the seated dignatries.

Among those seated were President Olusegun Obasanjo who Governor Soludo was introducing as his mentor and maker of modern Nigeria.

However, as Obi arrived and the seated dignitaries turned into a round of applause, Governor Soludo was forced to break his speech acknowledge the Labour Party presidential candidate who is presently the symbol of the ongoing moves to upend the dominance of the two major political parties.

GWG.ng reports that Soludo came into the view of Obidients, as supporters of Obi are called when he wrote a dismissive letter dismissing the prospects of the Labour Party presidential candidate in the last elections.

However, Obi led a political insurgency that saw him defeat the declared winner of the election, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in his home state, Lagos and take third in the results as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. Obi is presently in court to contend that he won the election.

As he paused his speech with the eruption of applause on Saturday, Soludo was forced to say, “the former governor is coming… a worthy son of Anambra in whom we are well pleased.”

GWG.ng gathered reactions to the issue on twitter:

GWG.ng reports that the first anniversary of Soludo in power follows his emergence as successor to Chief Willy Obiano who was himself succeded Obi as governor.
