Buhari Sacks Second Jonathan Appointee In Three Days
President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked Hajiya Saratu Umar as the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), with immediate effect, a second appointee inherited from the Goodluck Jonathan administration to face the sack in three days.
Mr Femi Adesina, the President’s spokesman, confirmed this development in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.
In a directive to the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Richard Adebayo, the president also mandated the most senior Director in the Commission to immediately take over in the interim.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Buhari had in July 2022 approved the appointment of Hajiya Saratu Umar as Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the NIPC for a fresh term of five years.
Umar was first appointed to the position in July 2014 by the Jonathan administration and retained by the Buhari government.
GWG.ng reports that the sack of Umar from the NIPC who was appointed by the immediate past administration of President Goodluck Jonathan came days after President Buhari ordered the sack of another chief executive inherited from the Jonathan administration.
The president had on Tuesday has ordered the Executive Vice Chairman, National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Prof. Mohammed Haruna, to vacate his office immediately.
A statement from the office of Secretary to the Government of the Federation on Tuesday in Abuja by Mr Willie Bassey, the Director of Information, said Haruna should hand over his office to the next most senior officer in the establishment.
