Ogboru Takes Shocking Decision On 2027 Delta Guber Poll
Chief Great Ogboru who has contested all governorship elections in Delta State since 2003 has taken a decision not to contest the next round in 2027.
Ogboru who was the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in 2023 had in 2019 contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC and before then also used the platforms of Labour Party, Democratic Peoples Party, DPP and Alliance for Democracy, AD in serial failed bids to become governor of Delta State.
However, giving his stance on 2027, Ogboru while speaking with newsmen in his country home at Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area, however, admitted that the 2023 election was marred with irregularities.
He spoke on the sidelines of activities marking his 65th birthday anniversary.
While commending his supporters especially those who had soldiered with him over the past two decades, Ogboru said that he had resolved not to partake in the 2027 election.
Ogboru had shocked the political permutations in the state following the 2023 governorship election openly congratulated the winner of the election, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate, Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, the first time he would be congratulating the winner of a governorship election in Delta State.
According to him the decision to congratulate Oborevwori was because of the governor-elect’s humility and respect.
He nevertheless expressed concern that youths to willingly sold their votes, noting that they could enslave themselves and would have no right to condemn the next administration if they are not satisfied with the governance.
