Ihedioha Missing As Anyanwu Emerges PDP Guber Candidate In Imo
The incumbent National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Samuel Anyanwu has emerged as the party’s candidate in the forthcoming Imo State governorship election scheduled to hold on November 11.
His emergence came after the party’s primary election held today, Wednesday at the party’s secretariat in Owerri, Imo state
The State Organising Secretary, Lawrence Biado confirmed the victory of the national scribe popularly known as Sam Daddy in the internal party poll that was presided over by a committee delegated by the National Working Committee, NWC and led by Kenneth Okon.
GWG.ng, however, gathered that the immediate past governor of the state, Hon Emeka Ihedioha was conspicuously absent.
GWG.ng reports that Ihedioha who had been seen as the leading aspirant for the ticket had shockingly stepped down on the claim of alleged bias as his camp questioned the justification of Senator Anyanwu sustaining his job as national secretary and at the same time contesting for the party’s ticket.
Sources in the Ihedioha camp had also alleged that a direct fight between the two of them could lead to the dissipation of energy that would lead to exhaustion before the general election where the party is expected to face the incumbent, Senator Hope Uzodimma, who is largely expected to win the APC ticket.
The emergence of Senator Anyanwu in the Imo PDP governorship primaries as the candidate may now have unofficially kicked off what is expected to be a bruising campaign.
