Like A Lion Yahaya Bello Is Devouring Prey With Power And Subterfuge

Governor Yahaya Bello was on Thursday living to his nickname of White Lion after his camp pounced upon their political preys in Kogi State with ferocious power and deception.

The emergence of the auditor-general of the state, Ahmed Usman Ododo was hardly expected given the much permutations on the Accountant-General of the state Jubril Momoh, the deputy governor, Edward Onoja and the chief of staff, Pharm Abdulkareem Asuku.

With the three top contenders fighting for supremacy within the governor’s kitchen cabinet, stakeholders were a little surprised on Thursday evening when Governor Bello Mattawalle surprised those who converged for the stakeholders’ meeting with the news that all three top contenders had submitted letters of withdrawal from the contest.

Besides the trio, others associated with the governor’s camp including Senator Oseni, Mr David Adebanji Jimoh, a former Commissioner for Finance and Asiwaju Ashiru Idris; Okala Yakubu, all in the governor’s camp had withdrawn from the race.

The withdrawal of all those in the cabinet and allies of the governor who procured form with the notable exception of Ahmed Ododo, the auditor-general of the state could only have meant one message: that he was the governor’s man.

GWG.ng reports that though Governor Yahaya Bello is yet to publicly speak, the insinuations that he has endorsed Ododo is one that his associates were quick to refute following initial reports of the emergence of Ododo as the choice of the Yahaya Bello camp.

“The governor did not announce his endorsement of Ododo. What happened was that all those aligned to him withdrew from the contest.”

GWG.ng reports that the withdrawal of all the allies of the governor with the exception of Ododo meant it that the camp of the governor would now coalesce their forces towards the common agenda of sustaining the relevance of the camp into the next administration.

The arsenal would now be pointed towards the likes of Senator Smart Adeyemi and others outside the governor’s camp who will be fighting in an uncoordinated formation against the united forces of Yahaya Bello, the White Lion.
