39 dead bodies have been discovered on land owned by Kenyan preacher, Paul Makenzi, who was detained after ordering his followers to starve till death.

On the property owned by Makenzi, who was detained on April 14, 2023 due to connections to cultism, other shallow graves have still to be dug up, Malindi Sub-County Police Chief John stated .

43 individuals have already perished, including four more who passed away after being found to be famished at the Good News International Church last week. Additionally, two kids who were starved and strangled to death by their parents “to please God” have been linked to the pastor.

In order to continue their investigations into the killings of Makenzi’s followers, police have asked a judge to grant them more time to detain Makenzi.

Police in Malindi raided the pastor’s property after receiving a tip, discovering 15 malnourished people there, including the four who subsequently died. On the pastor’s advice, the followers claimed to be starving in order to meet Jesus.

Numerous shallow graves were reportedly scattered throughout Makenzi’s land, and digging began on Friday, April 21. While in police custody for the previous four days, Makenzi has been on a hunger strike.

The preacher has previously been detained twice, once in 2019 and again on March 22, 2023, in connection with death of children and Each time, he was released on bond, and both cases are still proceeding through the court. Local politicians have urged the court not to release him this time.
