2023 Nigeria Decides
In Further Rubbish Of PDP, Wike, Makinde Visit Tinubu, Ask Him To Proceed With Governance
Governors Nyesom Wike and Seyi Makinde on Friday pledged solidarity with President-Elect Bola Tinubu during a courtesy visit to him at the Defence House, Abuja where they said that the elections were over and that the country must forge ahead with governance with Tinubu as the nation’s leader.
The Rivers and Oyo State governors are among the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP G-5 who opposed their party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 election. Following the meeting with Tinubu they said that election is over and that the nation must forge ahead with governance.
GWG.ng reports that the visit by the two PDP governors is bound to add more bitterness to the rankle between the G5 governors and their party which is in the tribunal to upturn the declaration of Tinubu as the winner of the presidential election.
In separate interviews with newsmen after they held a closed door meeting with Tinubu, Wike and Makinde said that the election is over and that the country must move ahead with governance.
Wike said that he had great confidence in Tinubu to govern the country and that they are willing to give him all the support needed to take the country to a higher level.
GWG.ng further reports that the open support for Tinubu by Wike led to the unprecedented victory by the APC in Rivers State making it the first time that the PDP lost the presidential election in the state.
Makinde’s support for Tinubu also dovetailed to Tinubu winning Oyo State despite his loss of what some claim as his home state, Osun.
