Anger Over Criticism Of Buhari’s ‘Obscure’ Presence At Coronation

Many tweeps were on Sunday reacting with venom after one of Nigeria’s leading civic rights activists, Dr Sam Amadi raised questions as to the obscure presence of President Muhammadu Buhari at the Saturday coronation of King Charles III of England.

Sam Amadi, a public affairs critic had in a post on twitter queried why President Buhari was buried in the crowd at the coronation and not given a dignifying recognition.

He had said:

While some reasoned with him and saw Buhari’s trip to England as a jamboree, some others also suggested that the treatment given the Nigerian president reflected his standing in the international community.

However, many tweeps disagreed with the critics saying that President Buhari’s sitting position at the coronation fitted with diplomatic protocol as they flayed Sam Amadi for being unnecessarily critical.

@Mykoladoo

Simply delegating this event to the first son of Kaduna would have saved him from this stress .

Amechy Udeze @amechyudeze

He probably was not considered important enough to be officially invited. It probably was a pre- disengagement jamboree of a president of a country earlier described as ” fantastically corrupt”. A classification Mahmud Yakubu and his team confirmed at the presidential elections.

However, other tweeps, arguably inclined to the APC descended on Dr Sam Amadi over his positon on Buhari’s sitting at the coronation with some labelling him a Peter Obi sympathiser.

Koye @KoyeDG

He is sitting amidst World leaders. Those rows behind him are still occupied by presidents and countries leaders. If you’re invited to the gathering of counsellors and Obidients, you and I know you won’t walk away.

Miyaki @SirMiyaki

On this one you are wrong Sam. You need to read more about protocols.. So if you won nomination and were elected that’s how you wouldn’t go for business meetings because you wouldn’t be in the front row? Unnecessary pride.

Sorry sir but this is not “lost in the crowd.”. This is a crowd of dignitaries and very respect world leaders. He surely wasn’t going to sit in front, he is not the PM of England or a G20 Nation either…
