Keystone Bank donated 90 units of protective garments to the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) in support of the collective responsibility of protecting the environment.

This is contained in a statement issued by Mrs Janet Peni, the Deputy Director of Information, AEPB, on Thursday in Abuja.

Mr Osilamah Braimah, the Director (AEPB), said the donation of 90 units of protective garments to street sweepers in the FCT by the bank was a welcomed development in the history of his tenure.

“I wish that other banks will emulate this kind of initiative taken by Keystone Bank, which isn’t even the biggest Bank in Nigeria. This is a great gesture.

“Good deeds and acts of kindness are not measured by the size of the giver, but by the desire to give,” he said.

Earlier, Mr Suleiman Mohammed, the Head, Public Sector Group, who led the Keystone delegation to AEPB, said that they have decided to support environmental sanitation in the FCT as part of the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Mohammed noted that the 90 units of uniforms were being donated to the personnel in the FCT as token presentation in support of the collective responsibility of protecting the environment.

“These are the people we see every day and night, under the sun and in the rain, keeping our environment clean and safe.

“Providing them with a protective garment will go a long way in protecting and motivating them to work in a safe and encouraging manner.

“As a bank, we believe seriously that if we neglect the environment, we are all going to suffer for it,” he said.

Mohammed said that the starting point was supporting those who are directly and actively participating in taking care of the environment.

“We don’t want them to be exposed to unnecessary dangers that could be averted by simply providing such garments.

“We acknowledge the great work AEPB is doing and as a Bank, we are much interested in our environment.

“This is just the beginning; we will return with other laudable initiatives,” he assured. (NAN)
