Nigerians were reacting with incredulity on Sunday after the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi was dragged into the rumpus that arose from the altercation between Seun Kuti, son of Afrobeat star Fela Anikulapo Kuti and a police officer in uniform.

GWG.ng reports that a trending video had shown the moment when Seun Kuti assaulted the police officer and slapped him provoking the instruction of the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba for the immediate arrest of the musician.

The video which trended for most of Saturday took a new twist after Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC alleged that most of the social media fury against Seun Kuti were caused by supporters of Peter Obi who were peeved by the antagonism raised by the musician against his presidential aspiration.

Supporters of Peter Obi and others who were otherwise non-aligned reacted to the input of politics into the affair between Seun Kuti and the police officer on Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos.
