Seun Kuti Reacts As New Details Emerge After IGP’s Arrest Order
Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti has reacted to the order for his arrest by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Baba following the controversy sparked by the trending video that showed him assaulting a police officer in uniform.
GWG.ng had reported that following the trending video that the Force Public Relations Officer FPRO CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi’ had in a statement disclosed that the IGP had ordered the arrest of the musician and son of Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti over the incident.
“IG Baba assures Nigerians that acts of contempt/disdain for symbols of authority will not be tolerated while offenders of such hideous crimes will be surely brought to book,” the force spokesman had said.
However, in a sharp riposte, Seun Kuti responding to the IGP went to his Instagram story to give his own account of the incident.
“I welcome the investigation and will give my full cooperation! I also pray to the IG that whoever is wrong should be indicted”.
Speaking out on his Instagram story, Seun Kuti claimed that the policeman wanted to kill him and his family.
Seun Kuti said that he has proof of it, but he isn’t one to chase clout.
According to him, the policeman involved had apologized to him and agreed not to press charges.
“He tried to kill me and my family. I have the proof but I no dey chase clout. He has apologized and I have agreed not to press charges. Make una mind una business make the poor guy no lose his job,” Seun Kuti said following the brouhaha over the IGP’s order for his arrest.
