There was suspense over the prospects of the release of Seun Kuti at the end of the four day extended remand order on the musician who is being detained over his alleged role in the assault of a police officer.

GWG.ng reports that with the musician detained in a Lagos police facility that his position in a scheduled musical tour of Europe fell into the hands of his brother, Femi Kuti who on his opening act in Spain explained that Seun Kuti was held back on account of the issues with the police.

Femi Kuti in a video, however, pulled back from giving further details of the case saying that the issues were before the court.

Femi Kuti, however, revealed that the Fela Anikulapo Kuti was fully behind the musician saying that everything legally possible was being done to extricate him from the issue.

Femi Kuti, however, did not explain if the tour was originally organized as a joint tour for the two of them or if he came in to stand for his brother who is held back in police detention in Lagos.

Meanwhile, with the four-day extended remand order expiring today there was confusion as to the prospects of Seun being given bail on Monday as ordered by the court last week.

A police source said that the police originally asked for a 21 day remand and that there were prospects of Seun Kuti being further held back in detention while police continue with the investigations into the assault case.

GWG.ng reports that Seun Kuti was seen in a video slapping a police officer on the Third Mainland Bridge penultimate weekend and was ordered to be hunted down by the Inspector General of Police, Alkali Baba.

In the continuation of the investigations, the police visited Seun Kuti’s home in Lagos last weekend.
