Politician Who Caused Fear In Tinubu’s Camp After Joining Ambode’s Rebellion Wins Important Lagos Election

Mr Fouad Oki, a chieftain of the All Progressives Party (APC) in Lagos State who raised a stir few years ago when he championed the rebellion of Mr Akiwunmi Ambode against Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has been elected Chairman of Lagos State Football Association (LSFA).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Oki defeated the incumbent Vice Chairman, Tade Azeez, by 13 votes to one.

The election conducted at the main bowl of the Mobolaji Johnson Arena (formerly Onikan Stadium) on Wednesday had all the delegates of the five divisional constituencies.

For the Vice Chairmanship position, the Chairman of 36 Lions, Liameed Gafaar score 10 votes to defeat former Technical Director of LSFA, Dotun Coker who polled four votes. (NAN)

GWG.ng reports that Fouad Oki, one of the most outstanding political strategists in Lagos was instrumental to the 2003 reelection of Tinubu and manager of the election that brought Babatunde Fashola in 2007, the reelection of 2011 and the election campaign that brought Ambode to power in 2015.

His siding with Ambode in the short-lived rebellion of 2018 had raised concern on the possibility of the Surulere-born political strategist turning the odds against the dominance of Tinubu in Lagos.

However, after Tinubu prevailed in the short war, Fouad Oki returned to the mainstream and is presently a part of the inner caucus in the Lagos chapter of the party.

The debonair politician is famed for his political dexterity and capacity, especially in high quarters.
