Commendations, Condemnations Trail Arrival Of Nigeria Air
Mixed reactions were at the weekend trailing the arrival of the first Nigerian Air plane to the country with a mixture of applause and condemnation trialing the last moves of the Muhammadu Buhari administration in the aviation sector.
Noting that 49% of the equity belongs to Ethiopian Air, and 5% to the Nigerian government and the balance left to investors, it was the opinion of some that the new airline should be appropriately labelled Ethiopian Air.
GWG.ng has gathered the opinion of many Nigerians on twitter:
Arise and Shine @RizeArc
Why is it so hard for us to celebrate Nigeria when we have a breakthrough, either small or big win? It is always negative criticism. You damn know that it can’t be just a fleet for a country carrier. Just say you don’t want Nigeria Air.
Felix Navita @Felicityandson
Nigeria is disgrace among African countries, what’s a big deal with the rented Nigeria air?
Emma Nwanyanwu @emmanwanyanwu
Ethiopian Air owns 49%, Other investors (who are Nigerian I suppose) own 45%, and Nigeria owns only 6%. At best, this should be called Ethiopia-Nigeria Air, it makes more sense. A National Carrier that is birthed and owned by another country is no longer a National Carrier.

This being true or not. Ethiopian air have a large share in Nigeria air. It’s not a bad idea if one of their plane got painted and delivered to Nigeria. It’s all business.
kachi Ifeoluwa Isa @kachiblog
Abeg, someone should show videos and pictures including registration number F Nigeria Air with pride.

Great News, Nigeria Air finally 🇳🇬
anko @phash_layi
Like I said it earlier, Nigeria air is a subsidiary of Ethiopian airline, Ethiopian airline own 49% of nigeria air , minister of aviation wants to steal money with this last minute move in his own and foreign countries favour , this is not in the interests of the country
CoachUU™️ @CoachUdofia
We only saw the exterior body paint of the Nigeria Air…I would love to see the interior to check something 😁😁🤣🤣.Who knows if it is South Africa Air crested on the seats.
K-SPARK @knxly
This Nigeria Air does not have a website. #JustSaying
Mr Official 🥇 @officialboy09
So why should Nigeria air use an aircraft from Ethiopia air instead of buying their own cos they spend a lot of billions on this. So you need have ur own aircraft for sure. Another scam again
femzy jay @femzyjay96
Hope u know that Ethiopia own 49% of Nigeria Air so they sending the sending the aircraft is nothing it’s a business partnership
