Two Men Exchange Wives, Formalise Agreement On Video
Kelvin and Christopher, two African farmers who live as neighbors, shocked many by exchanging their wives, Lillian and Immaculate, in a wedding ceremony that was captured in a trending video originally shared by Afrimax.
In the video, Lillian married Kelvin while Immaculate married Christopher, as the two men took the step to legalize their decision to swap spouses.
The couples’ affection for each other’s partners began to grow after paying visits to each other. This eventually led to each partner sneaking out to be with the other person’s spouse.
Initially, the men were hostile towards each other when they realized what was happening. However, they eventually decided to settle their differences by formally exchanging wives.
As part of the agreement, the children would stay with their respective mothers.
This isn’t the first occurrence, back in 2021, two middle-aged men from Busia County in western Kenya, Josh Odour and Sakis, allegedly exchanged their wives and children as a way of settling their differences after Sakis and Odour’s wife made their secret affair public. According to KDRTV, Odour first heard of the affair, but did not believe it until he found his wife at Sakis’ home doing chores, where she confessed to having moved on with the Boda (okada) operator. In retaliation, Odour allegedly convinced Sakis’ wife to marry him, and the two even informed the police about their new unions.
Both incidents have sparked a lot of reactions online, with many people expressing that the acts go against African cultural norms. Odour, in particular, expressed his eagerness to impregnate his new wife as a supplement for the two children she has, since he was used to having three children in the house. The incidents have raised questions about the nature of relationships and cultural norms in African societies.
