Controversy Over Tinubu’s First Foreign Trip
Controversy was on Sunday morning shadowing reports of the first foreign trip by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following his inauguration on May 29, 2023.
According to the New Telegraph, President Tinubu will next week depart Nigeria to Paris, France to attend the Global Financing Pact Summit.
According to the newspaper, the trip will also provide the president an opportunity for him to see his doctors in Paris, France.
“BAT is to attend the Global Financing Pact Summit in Paris, France, next week. This will be his first official trip outside Nigeria since his assumption of duty as President,” one of the top sources disclosed on Saturday.
“The trip is to check his health too. It is a strategy to go to the hospital,” the newspaper quoted another source as saying.
GWG.ng reports that the presidency which in the last administration was at odds in reporting the health of former President Muhammadu Buhari is not expected to be forthcoming if it is true that the president would be using the global summit as a cover to see his doctors.
Meanwhile, days before Buhari left office, the former First Lady, Aisha Buhari during the commissioning of the renovated multi-billion naira medical facility in the Presidential Villa had affirmed that with it, that there would be no need for the president or members of his family to go abroad for medical treatment.
GWG.ng reports that despite the allusions by The Telegraph about President Tinubu using the foreign trip for a cover to see his doctors that the president has been bouncy and carrying about his duties with no sign of physical stress.
