Omisore, Oyetola Dragged In As Osun Gives New Details On Attempted Assassination Of Adeleke

The immediate past governor of Osun State, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola and Senator Iyiola Omisore have been dragged into the alleged assassination plot against Governor Ademola Adeleke that the state government alleged was masterminded by former Senator Ajibola Bashiru.

Omisore, the national secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC and Oyetola were dragged into the drama after the Osun State Government traced the alleged assassination plot to a power struggle within the state chapter of the APC.

While not imputing any role to Oyetola and Omisore in the alleged assassination plot against Adeleke, the Osun State Government alleged that the plot was masterminded by Senator Bashiru as part of his alleged plots to wrest leadership of the state chapter of the party from Oyetola and Omisore.

The claim was made by Olawale Rasheed, spokesman of the governor who on Wednesday night insisted that there was indeed an assassination plot.

Senator Bashiru in an immediate retort described Rasheed as a comedian. An associate of former Governor Oyetola also dismissed the claim describing it as concotted and part of the plots by the Osun State Government to foist a crisis in the APC.

Meanwhile, insisting that there was indeed an assassination plot against Governor Adeleke, Rasheed speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, said:

“When we say assassination attempt, you want there to be gun shots and blood before you call it assassination attempt? When you foil an assassination attempt that means it does not happen but it was on ground.

“What happened was clearly an attempt on the life of the governor. The place was encircled. When he says that he knows nothing about those people then who brought those three buses?

“Whether it is political or not, we wish Senator Bashiru well in his endeavour to overthrow former Governor Oyetola and Senator Omisore but he should not use our government and the people of Osogbo as a cannon fodder. Osogbo is enjoying a peace that is so incomparable to what happened during the life of the immediate past administration. Osogbo people are angry that their own son is creating problems for them. So, Senator Bashiru should join us in developing Osogbo, Iwo, Ede and others.”

Responding to Governor Adeleke’s aide on the assassination claims during the programme, Senator Bashiru said:

“I think that the guy speaking there on behalf of the Osun State government I think that it is unfortunate that he is a comedian. What he has been saying is tale by moonlight. I went to the Eid dressed like a proper Muslim with a turban. “

“Someone who has gone to the mosque to go and cause trouble and carry out assassination will not go the way I was dressed.”

Speaking on the matter an associate of the former governor accused the Osun State Government of continuously working to create discord in the APC and especially between Senator Omisore and Oyetola. He alleged that after the PDP worked to deceive the people of Osogbo during the governorship election that the people had come to realise that they were deceived and hence the panic in the camp of the governor.
