JAMB Under Pressure As UTME Forgery Case Turns Political

The circumstances around the alleged forgery of the UTME result by Anambra school girl, Ejikeme Mmesoma were on Tuesday morning turning in its head as the issue was infused with politics, tribal innuendos.

Perceptions were also being shaped after Ejikeme Mmesoma put out her version of the events putting one of Nigeria’s leading Twitter influencers, Dr. Penking who had labeled her Nigeria’s youngest Yahoo girl to recant.

Though Australia-based Dr Penking did not pull down his post, he, however, offered a N1m donation to aid the girl in her legal defence.

GWG.ng reports that Ejikeme Mmesoma who was celebrated as the highest scorer in the 2023 UTME was last week disclaimed by JAMB which came out to announce that the girl forged the result.

JAMB subsequently vowed to prosecute her.

However, came out on Monday to give her story claiming that she never forged the result and that the Department of State Services, DSS had waded in to investigate the issue. She expressed shock that JAMB went out to give a verdict even while the investigation had barely commenced.

However, the forgery debacle took a political slant on Tuesday morning after a twitter user alleged that many of those who rushed to share the story were mute on the alleged forgery of certificates by some prominent politicians.

Though Twitter user,  did not mention any name, the tweep claimed that case of prominent politicians who allegedly forged their results were overlooked and supported in the last election.

JAMB accused Ejikeme Mmesoma of forging her JAMB result to emerge top scorer, & she said it’s a false accusation. Obviously both sides can’t be right, but while we await the truth, let’s not use this to promote tribal war. Don’t hastily pick sides based on pity or sentiments.
