Breastfeeding And Other Reasons For Nipple Pain In Women

cause of nipple pain

Nipple soreness or pain mostly in women happens at different times depending on what causes it.  Below are reasons why you or your woman may feel nipple pain.

Breastfeeding

If you’re breastfeeding, you almost certainly know why your nipples are dry, cracked and sore to touch. Soreness is very common in people who choose to breastfeed.

Hormonal factor

The most common reason for your sore nipples is probably hormonal. Experts also associate nipple pain to ovulation.

Pregnancy

Breast and nipple pain can be an early sign of pregnancy. Blood flow increases to the breasts during pregnancy, making them more sensitive. This also gets them ready for breastfeeding.

Infection

Sensitive nipples tend to go away after a few days of soreness if you’re not pregnant. However, if they don’t, your nipples may be experiencing infection and then you need to seek medical attention.

Washing powder

The pain could be as a result of your washing powder rubbing you up the wrong way. If you’ve recently switched brands, consider going back to your previous one, or even change to a non-bio detergent.

Skin conditions

Those with skin conditions are more likely to suffer with sore nipples, which can cause inflammation to the areola area. If you’re prone to eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis or general allergies, there’s every chance it’s behind your nipple irritation.

Friction

If you’re a runner, invest in a good sports bra to avoid nipple chafing (these should be washed more frequently, as the moisture and sweat is the perfect breeding ground for bugs to grow), and stick to everyday cotton bras  in the right size.

Involves in intensive training

Foster parents must donate a considerable amount of time to participating in intensive training programs that prepare them for everything from the introduction to the end goal  which is reunification and goodbye.

Requires a lot of communicating with social workers

A lot of communication is involved in parenting foster children until the child is returned to the parents.
