Suspected Mad Man Attacks Police Officer
Ogun State Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Bankole Isara Eluyeru, was reportedly attacked on Friday by a man suspected to be mentally challenged.
The development was confirmed in a statement made available to newsmen today by the command’s spokesperson, Omotola Odutola.
According to Odutola, the command received a distress call from an unnamed resident on Friday who informed the commissioner that a suspected madman attacked and beheaded an 84-year-old man, Elder Alfred Opadipe, in Ipara, a community in the Remo North Local Government Area of Ogun.
The said lunatic whose identity is revealed as David Shodola, 32, reportedly beheaded his victim on Friday morning, throwing the town into confusion.
Reports said the police acted swiftly on the information received and stormed the scene.
According to Odutola, CSP Eluyeru led some officers to the scene but the lunatic resisted arrest and attacked the police boss and his officers.
She said he used “the machete on the DPO and his men.”
The team, however, succeeded “in neutralising the suspect and recovering a weapon from him,” she affirmed.
Against reports from residents about the culprit, the police spokesperson asserted that there was “no recount of the suspect being a madman from the intelligence the police gathered.”
