Prof Accused Of Fondling Students’ Bo*bs And Bums Not Lured By Indecent Dressing – VC
The University of Calabar lecturer, Prof Cyril Ndifon accused by students of violating them sexually and touching their boobs and bums could not have been lured by indecent dressing of students, the university’s vice-chancellor, Professor Florence Obi has said.
Speaking in an interview, Prof Obi also assured graduates of the school in Law School that they would not be recalled despite allegations that some of them were sexually victimised to be sent to the school.
GWG.ng reports that the former dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof Ndifon was suspended by the university after students of the faculty of law mounted a demonstration over what they alleged as repeated sexually the harassments on the part of the suspended dean. Prof Ndifon has, however, admitted that he did no wrong saying that rivals within and outside the faculty orchestrated the campaign against him after he won the election to be dean.
However, asked in an interview on AIT’s Kakaaki programme on Friday if Professor Ndifon could have been provoked by the indecent dressing of the female students, Professor Obi firmly rebuffed the suggestion saying that there was no dressing that could have attracted the kind of allegations made against him.
Besides, she affirmed that the law students were about the best dressed in the university with the students made to wear compulsory white upon black uniforms with the female students putting on below the knee skirts.
“If you heard what the suspended dean said, most of the demonstrators are freshers, year one, year two student. These are students we took time out to guide them on on speak out and that is why they are speaking out. The final year and third year students may have accepted these things as a way of life and we are going to help them,” she said in saying that the allegations of sexual harassment against Prof Ndifon could not have been triggered by indecent dressing.
