Group Explains Betta Edu’s ‘Role’ In Protest At APC Secretariat
A youth group in the All Progressives Congress, APC APC Youths Renaissance has completely dissociated the minister Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu from the protest that rocked the APC’s national secretariat over the appointment of new members into the National Working Committee, NWC.
The group in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Collins Edwin completely alleged mischief in the reports that linked Dr Edu to the protest at the APC secretariat.
In a statement made available to GWG.ng, the group said:
“Our attention has been drawn to the fake news report alleging that the Honorable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu was responsible for yesterday’s protest at the party’s Secretariat over the choice of some new members of the National Working Committee of the party.
“Reacting through a statement signed by the national secretary of APC Youths Renaissance, Mr. Collins Edwin, the group said the report is nothing but a figment of the imagination of the sponsors; adding that Dr. Edu is busy articulating a workable blueprint on how to deliver on her mandate as Minister of the Federal Republic in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President and not engaging in any divisive act against the interest of the party.
“Recall that the Minister had on Monday declared that the time for politics was over as all her energies are now focused on how to lift Nigerians out of poverty irrespective of party affiliation or beliefs.
“Accordingly, we understand the intention behind the story, but all we can say is that, the Minister will never be involved in any action that could suggest disloyalty to the decision our great party in any form.
“Hence, instead of planting landmines on the way of the youngest Minister in Tinubu’s administration, we urge Nigerians to pray and support the Minister as she walks the talk of Mr. President in renewing the hope of Nigerians with what they can see and believe,” the APC youth group said in dissociating Betta Edu from the protest at the party’s secretariat.
