Ali Bongo wants the world to make noise about him

The ousted president of Gabon, Ali Bongo Ondimba has for the first time from detention urging the world to make noise over his fate.

Bongo who is being held in confinement in the residence within the presidential palace in the nation’s capital in a secret video that was released also lamented the fate of his son and his wife who he said are being held in separate locations.

In the 51-second video, Ali Bongo who was dressed in a local evening dress and who spoke in English from detention, said:

“I am Ali Bongo Ondimba president of Gabon. I want to send a message to all the friends that we have all over the world to tell them to make noise, to make noise for the people here have arrested me and my family. My son is somewhere and my wife is in another place and I am at the residence.

“Right now, I am in the residence and nothing is happening. I don’t know what is going on. So, I am calling you to make noise, to make noise, to make noise really. I am thanking you. Thank you.”

GWG.ng reports that Bongo won a controversial third term election last weekend that was largely characterized by fraud. Ali Bongo has been in power since 2009 when he succeeded his father, Omar Bongo who ruled the country for 42 years until his death in 2009.

The call by Ali Bongo from detention the rest of the world to make noise has, however, been largely muted.
