Anambra Labour Party LG elections

There seems to be glimpse of hope for the Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in Delta, Ken Pela, as Court of Appeal on Thursday granted him approval to return to the Delta State Election Tribunal for the continuation of his petition against Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

Recall the Delta Tribunal had earlier dismissed LP’s petition against Governor Sheriff on the ground that he abandoned his pre-hearing.

Displeased by the ruling, Pela took the matter to the Court Of Appeal in Abuja where he contested the decision of the election tribunal.

What this implies

With the Appeal judgement, Ken Pela will head back to the tribunal panel sitting at Delta to continue his case.

The victory at the Appeal Court was only interlocutory and does not imply Ken Pela has been declared winner of the March 18 gubernatorial election in the State.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had announced that Oborevwori won the governorship election with a total of 360,234 votes to defeat his closest opponent, Ovie Omo-Agege of the All Progressive Party (APC) who scored 240,229 votes.

Ken Pela of the Labour Party came third with 48,027 votes, while Great Ogboru of the. All Progressive Grand Alliance came fourth with 11,021 votes.
