Peter Obi’s Supporters Make Jest Out Of NBA Fiasco

Some Nigerians and notably, Obidients as supporters of Peter Obi are called were at the weekend doubling down on the embattled national president of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Yakubu Maikyau over the assertions of the national treasurer of the association, Caroline Ladidi Anze-Bishop, during the conference that the finances of the body were hidden from her.

GWG.ng reports that Ms Anze-Bishop had refused to endorse the finances of the NBA at the last bar conference as she said that she could neither say there were fair or not as according to her the NBA president shut her out of the finances of the body.

The assertion by the NBA treasurer has resonated with some in the political class, especially the Obidient flock who recalled Yakubu Maikyau’s defence of the 2023 presidential election as fair.

Obidients believe that the election was rigged after the Prof Mahmood Yakubu led Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC allowed the shutting down of the IREV portal.

For many Obidients, the claim by the NBA treasurer aligned with their assertion that the NBA president was not a fair player with some alleging that those with the name Yakubu have been a problem to Nigeria. Some even went further to play with the names teasing with the names of the immediate past and present presidents of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari and Bola Tinubu that those who have a BU in their names are problems to the country.
