Obi Victory Will Trigger Second Civil War – Reno Omokri
In a recent series of Twitter posts, Reno Omokri, a prominent Nigerian commentator and former presidential aide, expressed concerns over what he believes could have transpired if Peter Obi had emerged victorious in the 2023 Nigerian presidential elections or at the Presidential Election Petition Court.
Omokri asserted that there might have been a civil war in Nigeria if Peter Obi had won, attributing this potential outcome to what he described as arrogance and aggressive tactics employed by Obi’s supporters during the elections.
He highlighted that Peter Obi’s supporters were relentless in their efforts to persuade others to back their candidate, resorting to tactics like cyberbullying, threats, insults, and harassment against anyone who did not support Obi.
According to Omokri, who himself had in the past said that Obi would make a good president, his supporters displayed a sense of entitlement by insisting that everyone must support Peter Obi.
Omokri further compared the educational qualifications of the various candidates, emphasizing that Peter Obi held a second-class degree in Philosophy while others had more advanced degrees.
He questioned the basis on which Obi was declared the “right candidate” and criticized the attitude of his supporters.
Omokri also drew parallels with events that led to the Nigerian Civil War in 1966, emphasizing that the arrogance and caricaturing of other Nigerians by supporters of coup leaders Nzeogwu and Ifeajuna contributed to the conflict. He claimed that after the 2023 elections, some Obi supporters openly called for a military coup to restore Obi’s mandate, echoing the historical events of the past.
