President Bola Tinubu has given his nod to the nomination of Dr. Jamila Ibrahim Bio as the Minister of Youths, marking a significant milestone as she is poised to become Nigeria’s first-ever female youth minister.

The nomination is currently pending confirmation by the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

This historic announcement was shared on Twitter by Bashir Ahmad, the former Digital Communication Aide to former President Buhari, generating buzz and excitement across social media platforms.

Dr Jamila Bio, 37 is the daughter of the former minister of sports in the Goodluck Jonathan administration, Ibrahim Bio.

See post below:

A statement by presidential spokesman, Chief Ajuri Ngelale on her appointment said:

“Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim is a young medical doctor and most recently served as the President of the Progressive Young Women Forum (PYWF). She has also served as the Senior Special Assistant to the Kwara State Governor on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).”

However, amidst the celebrations, there is a growing chorus of voices seeking clarity on how the appointment of Dr Jamila Ibrahim Bio as minister of youth will directly address the pressing economic challenges that many Nigerians continue to grapple with. Critics argue that while symbolic progress is essential, tangible solutions to issues like unemployment, inflation, and access to quality education are urgently needed.

On the other hand, supporters of President Tinubu’s decision commend him for recognizing and championing diversity in leadership.
