A United States court in Chicago has at the instance of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar ordered the Chicago State University, CSU to release documents pertaining to the academic records of President Bola Tinubu within two days.

The order by U.S. Judge Jeffery Gilbert is to enable Atiku further articulate his submissions to the Supreme Court.

GWG.ng reports that the order by the US Court is despite claims by the CSU that Tinubu attended and graduated from the university.

However, the court in its judgment alluded to claims by Atiku that Tinubu may have in the past submitted a forged certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, which he said could be an act of forgery and the basis for disqualification.

The order by Judge Gilbert was despite opposition by Tinubu In its judgment, the court observed that “Intervenor (Tinubu) first argues the discovery Applicant seeks is intrusive because educational records are private and protected by both federal and state law from disclosure, and it is burdensome because CSU has submitted an affidavit confirming Intervenor graduated from CSU in June 1979 which is all the information that is relevant here.”

Judge Gilbert, however, cast aside the argument as he referenced public good among others to order the university to release the documents within two days.

“For all of the reasons discussed above, Atiku Abubakar’s Application Pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 1782 for an Order Directing Discovery from Chicago State University for Use in a Foreign Proceeding [ECF No. 1] is granted.”

GWG.ng reports that the judgment cast a negative side show on the day that President Tinubu addressed the United Nations General Assembly.
