The Plateau State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Jos, the state capital, has dismissed the petition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) against the election of Governor Caleb Mutfwang of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The judgment immediately threw Jos, the capital city into celebration with men, women throwing themselves on the ground and in the streets in celebration.

The Tribunal held that the PDP held a valid congress in Plateau State on 25th September 2023.

The Tribunal also held that the issue of nomination and sponsorship of a candidate is a pre-election matter.
GWG.ng reports that one of the National Assembly Election Tribunals in Plateau State headed by Justice Mohammed Tukur had been eliminating candidates of the PDP who won the election on the basis of the claim that the party did not hold a valid congress that produced them.
