Shehu Sani Reacts As LP Orders Lawmakers To Reject N160m Car Gifts
Shehu Sani, the former lawmaker representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, on Wednesday, commended Labour Party (LP) following its statement on N160m official vehicle being awarded to lawmakers by National Assembly, adding that though the move is “patriotic” but “nobody is going to reject the vehicles”.
This comes in the wake of a report that members of the Senate and House of Representatives have started receiving a gift of a new 2023 SUV each.
National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure, in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday, October 17, had condemned the development.
While urging his party lawmakers to reject the gifts, Abure described the action as the height of insensitivity.
Reacting, Shehu Sani in a post on his verified X handle on Wednesday, commended the LP for the “patriotic statement” but however said no lawmaker would like to reject the gift.
“LP told their federal lawmakers to reject their allocated official vehicles. That is a patriotic statement. However, nobody is going to reject the vehicles,” he wrote.
