Under pressure from the public over the appointment of 24-year-old Imam Kashim Imam as chairman of the Board of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), President Bola Tinubu has ordered the withdrawal of the nomination.

This was contained in a statement by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, on Thursday in Abuja.

He said that the President’s withdrawal of the above-mentioned nomination was with immediate effect.

Ngelale said that the withdrawal would not, however, affect other appointments to the Board and Executive Management team of FERMA.(NAN)

GWG.ng reports that Imam Kashim Imam who finished his National Youth Service Corp, NYSC scheme only in 2022 is the son of one of the top confidants of the president, Kashim Imam, a top political player from Borno State.

The elder Imam had served as chairman of the Tertiary Education Fund, TETFund and the nomination of his son was seen in some circles as a sop to his father who stood with Tinubu in the face of the political turbulence that he faced on his way to the presidency.

With the withdrawal of the nomination of Imam jr from FERMA eyes would be open on who would be his replacement.
