2023 Presidential Election: Supreme Court Begins Sitting

The Supreme Court has begun sitting on the appeals filed by the presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP), Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, respectively, against the election of President Bola Tinubu.

The apex court started with the Atiku/PDP case called, and lawyers announcing appearances.

Justice John Okoro, who prepared the lead judgment in the appeal by Atiku and the PDP, is reading it.

The first appeal to be decided by the Supreme Court regarding the outcome of the 2023 election is the one filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

This was confirmed on Thursday by the seven-member panel of the apex court, led by Justice Inyang Okoro.

Atiku is seeking the disqualification of President Bola Tinubu on the basis of alleged certificate forgery.

the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, through his lawyer, Chris Uche, on Monday tendered fresh evidence before the Supreme Court to prove his case against Tinubu.

Atiku, through his lawyer, Chris Uche, accused Tinubu of forgery concerning the president’s academic records from the Chicago State University (CSU).

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court will do a live transmission of Thursday’s final judgement on the outcome of the 2023 presidential election.
