Obaseki Silent As Oshiomhole Leads Foes To Orbih’s Birthday

The dynamic political landscape in Edo State was again brought to the fore last Friday as the major political foes of Governor Godwin Obaseki converged for the 62^nd birthday of Chief Dan Orbih, the national vice-chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

GWG.ng reports that Orbih was feted by two of the prominent leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Edo State, Senator Adams Oshiomhole and the leader of the House of Representatives, Rep Julius Ihonvhere.

Remarkably, though Orbih is the number one PDP official in the South-South and was his campaign manager in the 2020 election, Governor Obaseki was noticeably mum on the birthday of the PDP leader.

A picture of Oshiomhole and Ihonvbere feting Orbih on Friday was bringing to mind the collaboration between the APC chiefs and the mainstream of the PDP that is aligned to Orbih during the 2023 General Election.

GWG.ng reports that the PDP for the first time in 2023 lost in the presidential and National Assembly elections but, however, recovered to win the State House of Assembly election.

Speaking at the birthday, Ihonvbere described Orbih as a progressive minded Nigerian whose commitment to effective and progressive governance and service delivery to the citizenry remains unquestionable.

According to a statement made available to newsmen by Ihonvbere’s madia aide, Joshua Iraoya, the Reps leader noted that his close association with Orbih, which has spanned over two decades reveals a man whose knack for excellence in leadership and service delivery to the people remains boundless irrespective of whether the individual in question is of the same political affiliation with him or not. He said that despite the fact that they both belong to different political parties in recent times, Chief Orbih has consistently maintained close affinity with him and has always had reasons to commend him for his undying passion and resourcefulness in delivering qualitative service to mankind.

Ihonvbere added that despite their political differences, he and Chief Dan Orbih have continued to remain as brothers and compatriots that share an undiluted belief that the Afenmai people and Nigeria in general must move forward on the path of progress and development to the overall benefit of the people.

GWG.ng reports that the birthday gathering may posit a sign of a possible collaboration between the Orbih led tendency in the PDP and the APC leaders led by Oshiomhole against Obaseki ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.
