Simi Criticizes Female Preacher’s Controversial Advice On Finding Husbands
Renowned female singer Simi has taken to social media platform X to express her displeasure with a female preacher whose video advising single ladies on finding a husband went viral.
Simi, unimpressed by the preacher’s message, shared her thoughts on the matter, highlighting the issue of self-hate hidden within societal expectations and standards.
The preacher’s video, which gained attention online, showcased her advising single women on how to find a husband. Simi, however, found fault with the message of the preacher, seeing it as perpetuating self-hate and societal pressures. In a tweet, the singer criticized the preacher’s approach, emphasizing how even well-intentioned advice can harbor self-hate.
Simi pointed out the prevalence of skincare products promoting skin lightening and the societal pressure on women to alter their natural appearances. She challenged the notion that women need to conform to external standards, stating that every woman is enough just as she is.
Simi expressed her frustration with the preacher in her tweet: “Even when you hide self-hate inside ‘good advice’, it’s still self-hate. This is why 90% of skincare products in countries full of beautiful dark skin girls/women are ‘whitening creams’. And girls are told that the hair that grows out of their hair is not special enough. It’s not that you’re not good enough, it’s that they said you’re not good enough. She’s on the pulpit too. A role model. Lol. Wetin God no send una, na hin una like to dey do.” She concluded her message by affirming that all women are enough and don’t need to conform to external pressures.
