APC Fears Witchhunt By Security Agencies Ahead Of Kogi Polls
The All Progressives Congress, APC Governorship Campaign Council in Kogi State has expressed concern over the activities of security agencies which it claimed as being targeted at its chiefs in Kogi East.
The campaign council in a statement made available to GWG.ng said that while it welcomed the efforts of the security agencies in ensuring that the governorship election turns out peaceful, the council nevertheless expressed concern over what it claimed as the needless raid on the residences of some of its chiefs in Kogi East.
GWG.ng reports that the Kogi East Senatorial District is the base of the opposition Social Democratic Party, SDP governorship candidate, Muritala Ajaka.
The APC Campaign Council in the statement issued by its spokesperson/director media and publicity, Femi Fanwo said:
“We wish to reiterate that as a Campaign Council, we welcome every effort at ensuring a peaceful poll on November 11, 2023. The election is for the electorate to determine who leads the state from January 27, 2024 and therefore shouldn’t be a reason for insecurity in the state.
“However, we express deep concerns regarding the needless raid on the residences of some of our chieftains in Kogi East. We hold the hope that they are not specifically targeted ahead of the election.
“We hereby call on security agencies to act professionally, fairly and with the patriotic intent to maintain law and order before, during and after the election,” the APC said in expressing its fears over the activities of the security agencies in Kogi East.
