Lack of Funds Threaten Nigeria’s Participation in Youth Winter Olympics

Nigeria, the sole African representative at the 2024 Youth Winter Olympics, is faced with the daunting financial challenge of sending its team to Gangwon, South Korea for the games authorities revealed on Monday.

The President of the Nigeria Curling Federation, Danmola Daniel, expressed frustration over the Federation’s unsuccessful attempts to secure funds for a crucial pre-competition training camp. He has as such called on relevant authorities to support the Nigerian team, which is set to represent both the country and Africa at the upcoming Youth Winter Olympics.

Despite qualifying for the Youth Winter Olympics last December, the Nigerian team urgently needs training and competition in Finland and South Korea. With only 60 days remaining until the games commence in January, time is now running out.

As the clock ticks down, the Nigerian Curling Federation is urgently reaching out to both the public and private sectors for assistance. They also express hope for government funding to ensure the team’s participation in the Youth Winter Olympics.
